On November 19th the lodge hosted the annual banquet to celebrate Arrowmen’s accomplishments during the 77th year of our lodge.
The banquet meal was prepared by the cook team from Cherokee Trace and the decorations were provided by Tall Timbers. Thanks to the great work from these chapters!
The 2011 Chapter of the Year was Okee Tuklo. To be recognized as Chapter of the Year, Okee Tuklo was required to keep detailed records of their activities throughout the year including their meeting attendance, their camp promotion and unit election visits, and their service project participation. The chapter was under the leadership of Chapter Chief Thomas K. who was advised by Chapter Adviser Larry Frowick.
The runner-up chapter of the year was Naconiche. Naconiche was under the leadership of Chapter Chief Trevor M. who was advised by Chapter Adviser Peggy Scott.
In addition to the chapter awards that were presented the banquet is also an opportunity for the lodge to recognize the various contributions made by individual Arrowmen. One award the lodge presents to individuals who go above and beyond their immediate responsibilities is the James E. West Fellowship.
The James E. West Fellowship is a society that recognizes individuals by having a $1,000 contribution made to the council’s endowment. Since the contribution is made to the council’s endowment only the interest from the $1,000 can be used. This allows the contribution made in honor of an individual to continue to influence Scouting indefinitely just as the recipients have had a lasting impact on the lodge. In 2011 the lodge recognized a youth and adult as a James E. West Fellow.

Myles E (r) receiving the youth James E. West Fellowship
The youth recipient was 2010 Lodge Chief Myles E. Prior to serving as lodge chief Myles served as a lodge vice chief and chapter chief of Tall Timbers. He is an Eagle Scout and is attending the University of Texas where he is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in art.

Tim is a lifelong Scouter and in addition to serving as an associate lodge adviser he also serves as Advisor of Crew 872, Cubmaster of Pack 613, and an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 613.

2010 Founder's Award recipient Myles E. (l) presents the 2011 award to Brian A.
The highlight of the banquet was the presentation of the Founder’s Award. The Founder’s Award is a national level award that was created in 1984 to honor the co-founders of the Order of the Arrow, Dr. E. Urner Goodman and Carroll A. Edson. The award is presented to a youth and adult Arrowmen who best memorialize the spirit of achievement as described by our Order’s co-founders.
